Associate professor Zhihong Zhang and Postdoctoral Jie Yang, in Biomedical Photonics department, Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, together issued “Fluorescence imaging to assess the matrix metalloproteinase activity and its inhibitor in vivo” with the first authors, which was used as a first period cover article of Journal Biomedical Optics in 2008. Associate professor Zhihong Zhang and Postdoctoral Jie Yang mark breast cancer cell with genetic encoding molecular probe. They also had detected MMP activation in living transplanted tumor block and the MMP restraining condition of anticancer drug . The research mostly based on the significant function of MMP in the course of malignancy affection & transfer, which provided significant target molecule for tumor treatment research. Detecting dynamically MMP activity with optical molecular imaging can effectively apply to screening & efficacy evaluation of antitumor drug
