The first meeting of Academic Advisory Committee goes smoothly at Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics

On Nov 2-3, the first session of academic consultative committee of the Wuhan National Laboratory Optoelectronics (WNLO) was held by WNLO at its auditorium. 16 well-known experts and professors from home and abroad were coming all the way to attend the meeting and receive the letter of appointment. The experts are: C P Wong, Member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering; Victor V. Apollonov, Member of both Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and New-York Academy of Sciences; Member of both the Canada National Academy of Engineering and the Royal Academy of Sciences; Jimmy Zhu, Professor of the Carnegie Mellon University; Bo Liu, Senior researcher of the National Data Storage Institute in Singapore; Yong chen, Professor of the Ecole Normale Superieure; Jurgen Michel, Chief Scientist of the MIT Microphotonics Center; Richard Penty, Professor of Engineering Department of Cambridge University; Dianyuan Fan from Chinese Academy of Engineering; Bingkun Zhou, Qiming Wang, Xun Hou, Naiyan Wang, Songhao Liu and Xunbang Shen from Chinese Academy of Sciences.
During the meeting, they had deep discussion on the operation and management mode of the national laboratory, scientific research objectives and tasks, talent introduction, intellectual property right policy, how to elevate the research quality and innovation capability to the state of art international levels; how to attract and retain first class talents from China and the world.They had put forward a series of constructive suggestions which made a great contribution to approaching the goal of building the national laboratory of domestic and first-class No.1 in China and first-class in the world.
