Special Issues on Immuno-photonics
The United Nations has named 2015 the International Year of Light. This is a fitting designation, since light has played such a pivotal role in the advancement of science and technology, epitomized by the 2014 Nobel Prizes in both Physics and Chemistry. Light has also played an important role in immune systems, both as a direct method to induce immune responses and as a tool to detect immune activities. In the past several decades, progress in the field of immunology, has been especially significant, particularly with regard to cancer immunology and immunotherapy; so much so that in the December 2013 issue of the journal Science, cancer immunotherapy was declared the Breakthrough of the Year.
Riding high on the new light “ wave” and the newly found momentum in immunology and immunotherapy, the Journal of Innovative Optics in Health and Science (JIOHS) calls for manuscripts for the special issue: Immuno-photonics. In this special issue regular research articles, regular or mini reviews, case reports, technical reports, and commentaries. Manuscripts will be internationally peer-reviewed. Submissions dealing with the following and related topics are encouraged:
- Immunophotonics in diagnostics and therapeutics
- Photonics technologies in monitoring immune activities
- Photoimmunotherapy for cancer treatment
- Light-induced vaccination
- Photonics technologies in inducing immune responses
- Local and systemic effects of laser irradiation
- Sensing and sensors for immune activities
- Biophotonics molecular imaging for immune responses
Submission deadline: September 15, 2015 Planned publication date: January 2016
Submission format: Authors should use the Latex or MS-Word style files. For more details, please visit http://www.worldscientific.com/worldscinet/jiohs
JIOHS is now indexed by SCI. JIOHS becomes open-access this year and the publication fee is free for 2015 and 2016.
