Jonathan Knight是英国巴斯大学副校长、教授。2008-2013年，Jonathan前后担任英国巴斯大学物理系主任、科学学院副院长，2015年8月起任该校副校长。光学学会（OSA）fellow。他是光子和光子材料中心的创始主任，发表国际顶级期刊论文200多篇。他的研究兴趣集中在微结构材料的光子学研究，如创新光纤设计、装配和演示等方面。目前在多个应用领域开发这种微结构，以代替传统光纤。

题目：Perfect Optical Fibers

摘要：State-of-the-art single-mode optical fibers have exceptional performance, but they are far from perfect. As well as imposing distortions on the transmitted light through the effects of dispersion and nonlinearity, they have fundamental limitations such as their spectral transparency and material breakdown. This talk will explore how much better we can do by using the alternative waveguide physics of optical fibers with a hollow core.

ACP会议全称为亚洲光纤通信与光电国际会议及博览会（Asia Communications and Photonics Conference and Exhibition），是国际三大光通信会议之一，会议发源于2001年的亚太光通信国际会议（Asia-Pacific Optical Communications Conference，APOC），2009年与亚洲光纤通讯与光电博览会及国际会议（Asia Optical Fiber Communication & Optoelectronic Exposition & Conference，AOE）合并成为ACP。近年来，ACP在上海、广州、北京、香港等亚太一线城市轮流举行，今年将首次来到内陆武汉，于2016年11月2-5日由武汉光电国家实验室承办，并与国际光子与光电子学会议（International Photonics and OptoElectronics Meetings，POEM）和生物医学光子学与成像技术国际学术研讨会（International Conference on Photonics and Imaging in Biology and Medicine，PIBM）同期联办。

关于POEM

POEM会议由武汉光电国家实验室2008年发起，每年举办一次。经过多年坚持不懈的努力，已经形成一个覆盖光电子多个学科领域、汇集众多国内外知名专家、学者、学术机构和企业，集学术性和实用性于一体的高水平、高质量学术会议品牌。自2012年起与光学学会（OSA）联合举办POEM-OSA专题会议（OSA Topical Meetings），成为国际光电领域具有重要国际影响力的学术会议之一。
